Recognizing Drug & Alcohol Abuse/Misuse Training For Supervisors

The D.O.T. modes and State drug free workplace regulations require all supervisors of safety sensitive employees to complete two hours of training in recognizing the signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol abuse/misuse in the workplace. Our training programs provides supervisors with the necessary tools to help determine reasonable cause situations.

Supervisors must have this training in order to send a safety-sensitive employee for a Reasonable Cause Drug or Alcohol test. This training is a must if you supervise employees who are covered under the Department of Transportation regulations or a company Drug Free Workplace program. The concepts are universal.

Employee Workplace Substance Abuse Training

This course provides information concerning the effects of alcohol misuse and controlled substances abuse on an individual’s health, workplace and personal life. In addition to information on the five most commonly abused drugs – marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates & PCP – and alcohol, the course also provides the employee with information on club drugs and inhalants. A chart of drug and alcohol retention times in the body and a list of community help lines are all included. PDF files providing detailed information on the different drugs and other pertinent topics are accessible with a click of the mouse. There are chapter quizzes and a final exam. A Certificate of Completion listing the course, the individual’s name and the completion date can be printed if a “hard” copy document is required/desired.

Designated Employer Representative (DER) Traiining

Under U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) mandated substance abuse testing programs, a Designated Employer Representative (DER) receives test results and other communication for the employers regarding the testing process. The DER is an employee authorized by the employer to take immediate action to remove any employee from safety sensitive duties and make decisions regarding further testing and evaluation processes.  Every organization falling under the US D.O.T. regulations must have at least one qualified DER.  In order to become a qualified DER, an individual must have detailed knowledge of their responsibilities as outlined in 49 CFR Part 40, as well as those specific to the mode(s) they are operating within.

The training course provides a DER with a thorough education of his or her duties as outlined in the D.O.T. regulations for drug and alcohol testing (49 CFR Part 40). The course also includes a comprehensive dictionary of testing terminology, specific modal regulations and their procedures for workplace testing programs.

Certified Professional Collector Training

The Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR 40) and general industry consensus recommends all collection personnel complete a professional training course to become proficient in specimen collections for drug testing in the work place. The aim of this program is to ensure that all drug test collections are performed in a professional and consistent manner, maintaining confidentiality for the donor and security, integrity and control of the specimen. Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) Training
